A publisher leads a publishing company where all the publishing work is done. They are responsible of distributing all sorts of printing work such as books and newspaper. This publication is not limited to papers in this era but it has made its way in the electronic media.

The scope is advancing and making its way to the social and electronic media. The author has the right to setup any sort of marketing polices for their books. Publishers own a press where all the printing job is done along with other staff is hired who is responsible of doing different jobs. Some publications have their own writers and editors while they also work with many freelancers who don’t sit their office and work.

The situation becomes a bit complex when publishing is done through media other than printing. The other media can be internet or through CDs or DVDs. The designing and formatting is to be done the same way it is published just to maintain the display and resolution quality. Copyright and legal actions must be considering while copying any material as piracy is illegal around the world. The subdivisions of a publishing industry are:

• Newspaper printing and publishing: This printing and publishing is on daily basis and involves news and articles on current affairs.

• Periodical publications: This involves publishing of new editions on a regular schedule.

• Book Publishing: This sub-division is responsible for printing and publishing of books on regular basis. Many authors have started their own publications and self-publishing their own books.

• Directory publication: These publishers produce mailing list, telephone books and other type of directories.

• Academic Publishing: publishing of school books and other academic books and referrals.
